Nationalism

The minute you really stop discriminating between people on the man-made bases of divisions, anybody and everybody becomes just a human being, and becomes yours.
But national boundaries still have relevance, because there is enormous disparity in the economy of different regions.
If state boundaries are removed today, the nations with unlimited wealth, plundered from the world, will take away all the wealth to their parts of the world, and leave the people in the other parts of the world penniless. So until the development and economies of all the regions start to match a bit, the state boundaries should remain.
Having national boundaries will certainly mean nationalism in some kind or form, but it should never mean vulgar nationalism. And vulgar nationalism should have no place in human interactions and human relations.
As far as living or not living on the soil of your country is concerned, it is a matter of choice. In today's times of global economy it hardly matters where a national of a country is staying and working. You can serve your nation from abroad in endless number of ways, and can loot or humiliate your nation while living very much on its soil. What matters is your love for your country and for the world at large.

Are all the terrorists muslims?

It is wrong to say that all terrorists are muslims.
Irish Republican Army of Ireland (IRA) were named terrorists in the early 1920s, long before our own garam dal freedom fighters were called terrorists by the British.
IRA was the best organized terrorist organization till the recent past which survived for about 90 years and still has its offshoots. Its human bombs have attacked british military campuses about a year ago.
ETA of Spain came second to them in organization and are still active.
LTTE were considered in the third place then and were very well organized till last year.
Just that no one called them christian or hindu terrorists.
In free India 'terrorism' was seen in darjeeling, assam, nagaland, manipur, punjab before it was seen in kashmir.
US was and is facing terrorism from many latin american countries from times immemorial.
USA used Osama and organized Taliban against Russian forces in Afghanistan. In the late 80s the Russians retreated, but the US did not leave Saudi Arabia (USA's military base) (Osama's country) and wanted to capture the gas of Afghanistan. It is then that their own Osama and the Talibans became their foes. Until 1990 USA did not face terrorism from any muslim country.
Just that Osama and his men having worked for the US intelligence agencies, and Taliban having been trained and equipped by US intelligence agencies know the US security loopholes better.

We all are Ruchikas

Ruchika case

Aren't all of us identifying with Ruchika? Haven't all of us undergone the same? Why didn't we commit suicide? The answer is simple we didn't report.

Sometimes we took law into our hands and slapped the individual. Sometimes we shouted at him, cursed him, but most of the time we just endured the hurt and quietly waited for the pain to subside. Isn't this suicide?

When the molester is not a person in position of so called strength, can a girl get justice? NEVER. You report it and you will be blamed. Society will find fault with your attitude, your looks, your dress, your behaviour, your way of life...................

All the Rathores and not so rathores know this and enjoy this immunity.

Therefore all 50 crores of us get molested and our soul dies a silent death each and everytime.

A new government in New Delhi

It's strange; I totally forgot about my blogs. I think from today I should start writing again. Today Dr. Manmohan Singh was sworn-in as Prime Minister of India for the second time. A thought passed by. Should such important posts be advertised and people selected after a good selection process for such posts? I was compelled to think so.

Should a minister who performed well, and brought laurels to the last government be punished for not fighting the elections together? I mean Sri Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Sri Karunanidhi's fight for ministerial berth for his family members was looking disgusting. Why do some politicians play with our country's future?

Left was instrumental in almost all good things the last government had done, and which helped UPA government achieve greater success in these elections. They should be mentioned too.

I think what BJP and Sangh Parivar offered was a divisive agenda. They were boasting around about how and how many muslims and christians will they kill and sterilize. Varun Gandhi did not spare the sikhs too. Why are people with such notions not punished immediately?

There is some major fault with our education system that the Sangh Parivar is totally ignorant of our constitution. They are even more ignorant of the fact that all of us are obliged to follow the constitution as citizens of India.

SIM Card

It's so scary. Nearly everyone who has a pre-paid SIM Card, leaves it with some friend of his or her, while going to another city or country for a tour or for good. If someone can get 15 years of jail sentence for this, we should all think before we do so.

Sa re ga ma pa, Indian Idol, Voice of India

Three music reality shows are running parallely. Sa re ga ma being the pioneer, is still best in quality. Indian Idol is following its peers. Voice of India is the youngest of them, and seems a little immature. The only good thing about these shows is - they are giving platform to numerous talented youngsters. Even appearing in these shows gives them credibility, and progressing to higher levels often opens new vistas for them.

What attracts me and others like me is that we get to enjoy the lovely performances, and come to realize how much talent is hidden among ourselves. The long queques for auditions show how confident the Indian youth is getting. And the fact that a huge number of girls are ready to face the tough conditions to realize their dreams, and the fact that numerous parents support them in this endeavour is so heartening that the gloom spread by the appalling conditions of the male-female ratio in India seems to have its limits.

One more aspect needs to be highlighted that now girls and boys compete together in these shows. There was a time when Sa re ga ma used to have separate competitions for girls and boys. Though it had its own merits, as two people were crowned at the end, but competing together gives more credibility to the winners, and confidence and feeling of equality to girls.

These shows have different methods of judging. While Sa re ga ma pa and Indian Idol rely on popular votes, Voice of India till now is being judged only by the official judges. Both methods have their merits and demerits. Popular votes can be manipulated. Especially if you can vote online, which is free of cost, people can just go on creating IDs and voting for a participant of his or her choice. Here the participants, and their friends, who are not so net savvy will lose. If popular votes are accepted there should be some method to it, so that the vote can show the real following.

Starting blogging

Starting blogging

Hope someone reads it.

Was scanning old photos to save them from rotting. Of course these photographs are precious, as they are the pieces, the important people in my life held in their hands. Scanned photos can't boast of such distinction, but to save the images of the past, and to save the images of those important people, what could be a better medium than the internet.

Is the net really safe? What if its infrastructure is someday destroyed? Are there ample backup facilities available?
